A$AP Rocky admits he “pushed himself to the limit” on his next album.
The hip-hop superstar – who recently welcomed his first child, a son, with Rihanna – has debunked rumors that his sequel to 2018’s ‘Testing’ will be called ‘All Smiles’, before diving into what fans can expect a “more refined” sound. ” tunes.
In an interview with Dazed magazine, he said: “One thing I can tell you is that the name won’t be ‘All Smiles’ – you know, I’ve never said publicly that my album is called ‘All Smiles.’ This one is more of a concept project, it’s music and more.
“I’m finishing the new album now; I shot so many visuals for that. I don’t want to be cliché or sound like a salesman, but I pushed myself to the limit of everything. Going from that industrial, subversive sound of ‘Testing’ and then moving on to a more polished sound… I just like where it is.
In the high-profile chat, the “Everyday” rapper also opened up about parenthood and his hopes and dreams for his offspring.
The music star said: “I will always remind my children to never lose their imaginations, even in adulthood, no matter what.”
He told the publication that he wanted to raise “open-minded kids” and “not people who discriminate.”
The 33-year-old rapper added, “And I’m not trying to describe a saint, but realistically I just want a cool kid with cool parents.”
Rocky is hugely fond of his cartoons and will be happy to sit and watch TV with his child, adding: “I actually love watching cartoons – I’ve watched like, ‘Teletubbies’, ‘Blue’s Clues’ , ‘Yo Gabba Gabba’, ‘Peppa Pig’ and ‘Baby Shark’.”
Rocky released the single “DMB” earlier this month, along with a music video featuring Rihanna.
The couple get married and share a kiss in the promo.
