Olivia Rodrigo has thanked her fans for “forever” changing her life on the one-year anniversary of the release of her record-breaking debut album, “SOUR.”
Released on May 21, 2021, the hitmaker’s LP “Good 4 U” broke a world record for the biggest opening week for an album by a female artist in Spotify history.
And looking back on a whirlwind year, the 19-year-old pop megastar admitted she’s eternally “grateful” to those who made it possible.
She wrote on Instagram: “My debut album SOUR was released a year ago today. It is impossible for me to sum up in words how much this album means to me and how grateful I am to ‘to have had the privilege of doing it and watching it. exist in the world. thank you @dan_nigro for doing it with me and believing in me more than anyone. and thank you to everyone who embraced my laments of 17 and forever changed my life in the process. The ‘Deja Vu’ singer recently admitted that she’s “grew up so much” since the release of ‘SOUR’.
Olivia feels like she’s become a much more confident person thanks to everything she’s been through over the past 12 months.
She shared, “The process of creating ‘SOUR’ and releasing it to the world has really challenged me, and I’ve grown so much and learned so much about myself.
“I definitely feel like a more confident person today because of that.”
Olivia still considers herself a “hopeless romantic”.
But the chart-topping star admits to being a different person now than when she wrote her first record.
She explained, “I felt really different about love when I was writing ‘SOUR’ than I do now. I think when you go through heartbreak like that, you can be really disappointed with the concepts of relationships.
“But now I’m at a place where I’m so happy to have been through it all, and I have so much love for all those people I’ve had relationships with. And so good that I’ve been able to write songs to help me out.”
